This sumptuous wine has all the bells and whistles including a legendary consulting winemaker and 80-85% new French oak! I purchased the entire 2022 vintage; however, we only produced a couple hundred cases so I highly recommend you giddyup and grab yours today!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNow, I know everyone is excited for the 2023 Cabernet's and, rightfully so, they are fantastic. But like the 2018 vintage Cabernet's, most of the 2023's are going to take a year to coalesce in the bottle. Lot 2 2022 Oakville Cabernet, on the other hand, is more akin to the 2019 vintage Cab's, rich, ripe and powerfully complex but also sumptuous, open-knit, and accessible now. \u003cstrong\u003eBottled June 25th, this will be drinking great by the end of the summer and into the Fall!\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eClassic Oakville nose of blueberry pie and graham cracker crust complexed with boysenberry and sage\/tobacco notes underpinned with fresh-turned black earth haloed by toasty notes of caramel\/creme brulee from the beautifully integrated oak. Pretty cassis and white flower notes emerge with air. Rich and succulent on entry, showcasing wonderfully ripe red and blue fruits, graphite, soft chewy tannins and beautifully integrated toasty oak. Simultaneously ripe, dark, bright, spicy and rich, the wine has a juicy, open-knit yet deep structure that makes it a hedonistic pleasure now while having the fortitude to age gracefully for another decade or more. Their wines pitch right up the middle stylistically, combining a rich-yet-elegant, approachable style with well-deployed oak regimens and a built-to-last structure. While the focus is typically on Cabernet clones, today's release hails from what I suspect is their ~$100 \"Reserve\" program bottling that captures their top barrels from Napa's top appellations. Today's release is a blend of Coombsville, Yountville, Rutherford and St. Helena AVA Cabernet Sauvignon plus 4% Merlot and 2% Petite Verdot and 2% Malbec.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBottling blend? I can't be sure to be honest, but we loved it at first sight and are bottling it pretty much as-is (we blended in 2% Malbec).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAbsolute classic Napa Valley Cabernet from and absolute classic vintage destined to go down in history as one of Napa's finest. I have purchased plenty of wine from these folks in the past but nothing like this. Trust me, I never would have gotten my hands on this wine in any other market conditions. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDid I mention it's another screaming value?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFantastically colored, deep purple in the glass with a kiss of purple electricity around the rim. Succulent, juicy and remarkably open knit on the palate with blackberry jam and blackcurrant mingling with toasty oak and cocoa riding a perfectly integrated structure. If you love Russian River Valley Chardonnay, \u003cstrong\u003ethis is probably the best Chardonnay I have offered from this region.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBarrel-fermented in new french oak and them aged in a combination of one-year old and neutral barrels, the picture perfect 2023 vintage offers us an opulent, beautifully balanced (if not downright elegant), Chardonnay with chalky acidity carrying a melange of ripe orchard and tropical fruit with beautifully integrated oak. I should note, the producer sells their \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eentry level\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003c\/em\u003eRussian River Chardonnay for $50-$60\/bottle and recently awarded a 93-point score in the Wine Enthusiast.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThis is better juice here folks, all for just $15\/bottle! \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eChardonnay lovers, it is time to Back Up The Truck!\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLight golden in the glass, it offers an opulent-yet-energetic bouquet with a harmonious melange of spicy apple, pear, orange blossom, and apricot complexed with aromas of fresh churned butter and a \u003cem\u003ecreme brulee \u003c\/em\u003ehalo. A relatively new producer in Napa valley (just over 20 years old), they've earned an outstanding reputation for their no-expense-spared, single-vineyard Cabernet's that run the gamut from Stags Leap, Oakville, Rutherford, Howell Mountain, etc., and \u003cstrong\u003eyou can be certain no expense was spared in the production of this wine either.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eWith a $50+ price tag and barrel-fermented in ~ 80% new French oak with regular \u003cem\u003ebattonage\u003c\/em\u003e, this Burgundian Beauty weighs in right at 13.5% alc., landing smack dab in the middle of the elegant Lot 4 '23 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay and rich, ripe, bold Lot 11 '23 Russian River Chardonnay.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eSo, while Lot 9 hasn't commanded the price point heights of say Lot 4, I have to say this is my favorite of the bunch. \u003cstrong\u003eRight-up-the-middle stylistically, it has incredible verve and that quintessential, mouthwateringly gorgeous Burgundian palate explosion of marzipan and citrus. Simply put, this is utterly delicious wine - I'll stake my reputation on that.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eOMG bouquet blasting with a complex array of orchard fruit, meyer lemon, lime leaf, white flowers and beeswax. With air the more tropical fruit like mango comes out to play along with peach and marzipan with nicely integrated and subtle toasted caramel notes from barrel.
