Ultimate Cabernet Franc Sampler Case
EACH 12-BOTTLE CASE SAMPLER INCLUDES 3-BOTTLES OF EACH WINE BELOW.
While plantings of Napa Valley Cabernet Franc have grown only 15-25% over the last couple of decades, there is no doubt that interest in varietal bottlings of Napa Valley Cabernet Franc have skyrocketed.
Our 12-bottle case sampler includes 3-bottles each of a fantastic array of Cabernet Franc's from the best regions in Napa Valley at the incredible price of just $169/case. Compare that to the frontline pricing on each of these wines and you are receiving about $1,500 of wine for just $169!
From the high-elevation, single-vineyard Lot 21 sourced from the legendary vineyard that straddles Atlas Peak to Pritchard hill, to an hommage bottling from Oak Knoll, to a stalwart producer in Oakville, to another legendary, $140+/bottle single-vineyard selection sourced from some of the oldest Cab Franc vines in Napa Carneros, this assortment of Cabernet Franc's will blow your mind with their unique expressions of both producer and terroir.
Each 12-bottle sampler contains 3 bottles of each of the following wines:
Lot 21 2023 Napa valley Cabernet Franc - typically bottled under a proprietary name with scores in the mid-90's with Dunnuck and Parker and priced well-over $150+/bottle. The blend, 100% sourced from "the vineyard that shall not be named up on Atlas Peak", came to us at 75% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot so I decided to bottle this as a Cabernet Franc (minimum requirement for varietal bottling). The combination of Cabernet Franc and Merlot grown at elevation and raised up in 70% new French oak makes for an epically ethereal wine with incredible structure and complexity. Powerful-yet-elegant, this is a beautifully integrated, lithe and sexy wine. 24-hour decant recommended in near-term. Will age effortlessly another 20-years in your cellar. 92-points James Suckling (but it was tasted too soon after bottling and I think it would score higher now).
Lot 29 2023 Oakville Cabernet Franc - Hailing from a $100+/bottle, estate-grown program grown based in the eastside volcanics the upper Oakville Bench, this is a spectacular-yet-beautifully balanced effort and another incredible value! Folks, this is world-class, no-expense-spared winemaking! Drinking great now! 92-points James Suckling.
Lot 49 2023 Napa Carneros Cabernet Franc - The originating winery is a legendary Napa Carneros vineyard and producer that sells almost all of their wine mailing-list-only and is a highly prized vineyard source for a who's who of Napa Valley wineries selling fruit that comprises many, many single-vineyard designated Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay and, of course, today's offering of Cabernet Franc. Lot 49 is a stunning wine hailing from their most prized block of Cabernet Franc. It's typically blended with smaller portions of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and sells for well over $140/bottle under a Proprietary name. This is their final bottling blend and is comprised of 85% Cabernet Franc, 14% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drinking great now and will age another 15-20 years. The producer just received a 94-point score from a well-respected critic for their bottling of the same wine.
Lot 78 2024 Napa Valley (Oak Knoll) Cabernet Franc - this is a Just Trust Me wine :-) Sourced from a $100+/bottle Oak Knoll estate program, the production of this incredibly well-built Cabernet Franc is overseen by the child of two of Napa Valley's pioneering and, by all means, legendary winemakers. This winemaker clearly knows what they're doing and Lot 78 is a purpose-built, flagship "hommage" bottling and no-expense-spared production that sees 50% to 60% new French oak of the finest cooperage. The fruit is grown on an estate vineyard in Oak Knoll but, separate from the main estate on the east side, is in the much preferred gravelly west side alluvials at the base of Mount Veeder. Chalk full of ripe power but also produced with tremendous precision, this is a potent-yet-beautifully-balanced and complex Cab Franc! The ripeness of 2024 vintage shows through here and it already shows well with just a couple months in the bottle and will be singing this Fall. Will cellar another decade easy.
