Lot 82 2024 Freestone-Occidental, West Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
JUST BOTTLED! JULY 9, 2026
Mouthwateringly gorgeous, $85/bottle, single-vineyard West Sonoma Coast Chardonnay anyone?
Lot 82 2024 West Sonoma Coast Chardonnay hails from the same producer as Lot 85 Chardonnay and is their extremely well-regarded Joyce Vineyard Chardonnay bottling with consistent 93- to 95-point scores from Vinous, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Enthusiast, and James Suckling.
As I mentioned previously, the producing winery wound down their operations earlier this year and we have acquired most of their wines in barrel. The final blend here is simply the seven barrels and two puncheons we acquired, nothing else. The wine sees about 40% new French oak but lightly toasted for fruit lift and expression, nothing more. This is about as stylistically pure a Chardonnay as you'll find.
From the producers website on Joyce Vineyard: On the ridge just above Freestone Valley, linked together in chilly fog, sits Joyce Vineyard. [redacted] leased and began farming the site organically in 2017. At only 3-acres and planted entirely to Chardonnay, it the smallest property we farm and one of the very coldest. Goldridge soil predominates and Clone 5 of Chardonnay will perennially deliver citrus flavors and bright acidity in this environment.
This producer was definitely on the leading edge of the uber-cool-climate, Burgundy-inspired style of winemaking that has recently found its home in the foggy ridges of the West Sonoma Coast. Fully ripe yet weighing in at just 12.3% alc, it is an incredibly bright and effusive wine with mouthwatering acidity and remarkable depth and complexity. The aromatics are simply stunning and worth the price of admission alone.
This is geeky Chardonnay at its best folks, if you liked electric, nervy, Burgundian Chardonnay's, you are absolutely going to love Lot 82!
Normally $85/bottle out of the tasting room and now yours for just $149/case!

Medium/pale straw in the glass. Gorgeously aromatic, even mouthwateringly so, from the get go with fresh cut pineapple and citrus blossoms leading the charge. As the bouquet blossoms, notes of creamy citrus (creamsicle), river stone, lemon oil and brioche are haloed with white pepper and a hint of banana. Juicy and fleshy on entry with mouthwatering, crystalline acidity carrying an array of delicately rendered tropical notes complexed with creamy nectarine and lemon notes in a long, mouthwatering, epically pretty finish with tremendous length.
